Ladies and gentlemen, not long ago, in radio, he sent to you the story of the American hybrids, now settled in the United States and is living in extremely traumatic circumstances. Successful Offspring
In addition to these unfortunate hybrids, there are people who also have the same plight, also carrying two bloodlines like them, and the same leg to the U.S. under the Home Coming Act Program – The act of returning to the homeland by the US government issued in 1989, overcoming how difficult and obstacles, has been successful in the Land of man.
In order to record his life and experiences on the land of their father, Ms. Trin Yarborough, a U.S. journalist, currently resides in Los Angeles, California, has been suffering from research and contact with them, and rewritten into the book titled Surviving Twice-Please be alive twice. In today’s program, invite you and hear the minds of the author and the real characters in this book.
Author Trin Yarborough
Mrs. Trin Yarborough grew up in Texas. Her husband had held the state governor of Texas from 1960 to 1968. This time, while helping her husband work, she witnessed many serious problems occurring in this state such as poverty, the color difference… After becoming a journalist, he did not know much about the Vietnam War, but she was interested in the consequences.
When she moved to the Los Angeles area to live and work, on a very accidental occasion, she had the opportunity to meet these hybrids and come up with the intention of writing a book about them. She recounted:
Most of all the hybrids are treated very badly, even in Vietnam as well as in the United States, so they do not trust anyone, so it is difficult for them to reveal the truths.
“I am a freelance journalist and when I work for many different newspapers, such as the Los Angles Time, I am very interested in the culture of people who come to the United States from all over the world, especially those who are emigrated.
As a result, when I edited my writing about Vietnamese pop in Little Saigon, I met Randy, Louis Nguyen, and other hybrids I had outlined in my book. Their stories were special and made me very attentive. So I decided to learn about them and write this book.
As I proceeded, there were a lot of trials that came to me that I could not understand. The first thing, I had to work with them through the interpreter, there were people I had to do a few years of life, it was hard to unite closely with those of the hybrids if they had to work through the interpreter.
Secondly, after I heard them telling the story, I had to ask again, to find a way to verify their words. Therefore, I had to take time for them to understand me more because most of them have a doubt for me in the first step. And I also have to come to Vietnam to work, to judge what they say.
Therefore, the more challenges I have. Because in Vietnam, some people have doubted me, do not understand why I am a journalist, from the distant American country, come to Vietnam to learn about the family of hybrid people who settled in the United States, for what?
So, I have to say that I have met a lot of obstacles. Third, most of all the hybrids are treated very badly, even in Vietnam as well as when in the United States, so they do not trust anyone, so it is difficult for them to reveal the truths”.
The story of Randy singer
In this book, Mrs. Trin recorded the stories of mercy and rise to win the adversity of the hybrids when they arrived in the United States. One of those is Randy, the singer in Orange County, California. According to his words. My real name is Tran Quoc Tuan, when I was a young child, lived in the orphanage and adopted by the cheek in the cam ha, however, the cheek raising me was very much for you, so I felt that living with the mama raised was a very unfortunate thing for you.
“My real name is Tran Quoc Tuan, when I was a young child living in the orphanage and adopted by the cheek in the cam ha, however, the cheek adopted me very much for you, so I felt that living with the cheek is a very unfortunate thing for you.
She would ask you to go to cow blankets, to grow potatoes, cut rice, do heavy jobs in the house… She adopted me as a man in the air, and love is almost without… So every time I make a mistake, she has gestures, the act of treating you is not the other…
When I was beaten up by her, I left the house, went to the field, dug the potatoes or eaten the guava except for the rice, and slept in the wild shrines, or in the elephants, or the barn of the cows, because of home, afraid she hit…

When rumors of the hybrids were going to America, the cheek adopted him for another family with a price of 3 golden trees, at that time in 1983, but they still sent him to stay with the foster cheek. By the year 1989, due to excessive action, he would like to stay with his family who bought him to look forward to a better life, but:
“Just like Mrs. Mama Fed you only… Because they saw the guts too, bought EM from 1983 that until 1989 still have not seen anything… Until 1990, I was with my family and I bought you. Going to the US for a couple of weeks has been sneezing… When I was new, you ate a lot, and she paired the same form that you were eating so much? The risk of subsidized it’s going to eat. After I heard her say, I was so upset and please divide the relief, I got 180, 100 to pay the sleeping place in the living room and 80 left to spend a month, plus 40 food stamp”.

Anh Chau Thanh Son
Most of the hybrids have very difficult circumstances to overcome in the days of childhood, firstly, the society is trampled so people lose a lot of power… Because those stresses should be tried to glance, after crossing, hopefully, it will bring you strength in your life.
Another hybrid, named Chau Thanh Son, was also recorded in her book by Mrs. Trin, who said:
“I was born in Cham towers, then, about 4, 5 years old, my mother moved to the multi-power plant, Thuan Hai province. At a later time in 1975, the time was extremely miserable… Around 1984, at that time I was about 14, 15 years old, thinking that I would want to go through America to find his father. So, I’m worried about running papers from 1984 to 1989, I’ve been through America.
When I was new to the United States, I went to school and I sold at Flea Market. About 1 year later, I became acquainted with an American friend, first of all, they were teachers to get up and learn English and found me very serious to learn him to take the time to teach me”.
According to his words, after having a little English language, he began to enroll in the vocational school of the car at the community college and went to work, and supplementary papers to his mother and his siblings and other parents who were also through the US.
During this time, he went to buy old cars, was spoiled, and brought to the front page and repaired and sold. In 1994, during the occasion of her visit to Vietnam, he met the young woman and the country and decided to marry a year later. Before his wife arrived in the United States, he switched to manicures and worked as a salon. After a few years of decent food, he switched to real estate and practice in the California region, he said:
“After you get the real estate, then the price of the house is up, and you begin to follow the real estate. I’m in Cali very comfortable. Now that I have two Cali housing Units, I also bought the land, paid in cash, so I’m very comfortable… But Cali, I do not like to live, I like that quiet place to let your children learn, so we buy more home in Florida”
When you ask what you think about yourself looking back on the past life, he says: “Most of the hybrids have very difficult circumstances to overcome in the early days, firstly, the society is trampled so people lose a lot of power… Because those stresses should be tried to glance, after crossing, hopefully, it will bring you strength in your life. I feel so satisfied with your own life. Because of those tough days, I tried to step over and so that I had a very strong power”.
The author’s Love
Returning to the author Surviving Twice, who survived twice when asked why she decided to work agony during the years to complete this book, she said:
“I hope that the Vietnamese, not the American hybrid, will realize that these hybrids have suffered much suffering, they have been despised, from infancy and until now… I hope that their American fathers will rethink what they have done, they have left the bitter consequences for their offspring. It is a pity since most of the hybrids do not find their father… One sometimes finds out that fathers don’t want to see their children. I hope the Americans who are doing the policy will know the circumstances of the children born from war.
And what’s more important is that nowadays, a lot of American hybrids always bring their own feelings about themselves and I want to help them to erase the wearer. I know very well, the bottom of their heart, they are always upset, and I hope that they will be stronger to understand that there are many things, we can not control… And they are more of a better opportunity and life in the United States”.
Just then is the heart of Mrs. Trin Yarbrough, author of Surviving Twice, survived twice, the same characters in the book. Please stop here again and see you and you in the following program.
